Walking into a final exam, the useful question is: what score do I need to hit my target grade? This calculator answers exactly that, working backwards from your current standing.
It uses the weights of each component. If coursework worth 60% has earned you 70%, and the final is worth the remaining 40%, then to reach an overall 75% you need (75 − 0.6×70) ÷ 0.4 = 82.5% on the final.
It is a reality check as much as a planner: sometimes it shows an easy target, and sometimes it reveals that even a perfect final cannot reach the goal, so you can adjust expectations early.
That means the target is out of reach with the final alone — the earlier marks weigh it down too much. Aim for the best realistic result, or check whether any resit or bonus work is available.
Use the percentage each part contributes to the final grade. The coursework already done and the final exam should add up to 100% of the course.
