Indicative estimate. Subject lists / written-exam subjects are indicative and may change yearly. The basic promotion rule is overall average ≥ 9.5; special provisions also apply — confirm with the school.

How it works

Working out a grade in the Greek middle school (Gymnasio) and high school (Lykeio) system is confusing, because it combines oral term marks with written exams. This calculator brings them together per subject and produces the final grade.

For each subject it weights the term marks against the written exam according to the current rules, then averages across all subjects for the overall grade.

It is useful for checking whether a student is promoted to the next year, spotting where improvement is needed, or simply understanding how the report-card grade is produced.

Frequently asked questions

How are term marks combined with the written exam?

Each subject’s final mark comes from the average of the term oral marks together with the written exam score, weighted as the current Greek curriculum specifies.

What is the pass mark for promotion?

Generally an overall average of at least 9.5 (on the 0–20 scale) is required for promotion. Always check the rules in force, as they can differ by year and grade.

Can I enter decimal grades?

Yes, decimal grades are supported for a more precise estimate.
