Trip Cost Split
Split the fuel cost of a trip among the passengers (carpool).
Split the fuel cost of a trip among the passengers (carpool).
Sharing a car for a road trip is cheaper for everyone, but only if the fuel bill is divided fairly. This calculator takes the total cost of the fuel and splits it evenly across everyone who travelled.
The maths is simple: cost per person = total fuel cost ÷ number of people. For a €60 tank shared by 4 people, each pays €15. If the driver does not chip in for fuel (a common arrangement), divide by the passengers only.
It is handy for carpools, holiday drives and commutes shared between colleagues, so nobody has to do sums in their head at the petrol station.
That is up to your group. Many carpools split the fuel among passengers only, since the driver provides the car, insurance and wear. Enter whichever headcount you agreed on.
Enter the total you want to share as the cost — that can include tolls or parking as well as fuel, and it will be divided the same way.
Use a separate calculation for each part of the journey.
