Work out the tip, the total and the amount per person for the bill.
Working out a tip in your head after a meal is easy to get wrong, especially when the bill needs splitting. This calculator does both at once: the tip and each person’s share.
It multiplies the bill by the tip percentage, adds it to the total, then divides by the number of diners. A €48 bill with a 10% tip comes to €52.80, or €13.20 each between four people.
Tipping customs vary by country — around 10% is common in much of Europe, while 15–20% is normal in the United States — so set the percentage to match where you are.
Either is accepted, but many people tip on the pre-tax total. Enter whichever figure you prefer as the bill and the tip is calculated from it.
It depends on the country and the service. Roughly 10% is typical in much of Europe, 15–20% in the US. Round up for great service, down for poor.
The percentage depends on service quality and local customs.
